WordPress - Required Update

For those of you who use the popular blogging software, WordPress, you will need to upgrade your installation to the latest release (2.2.1).

The latest release is primarily made up of bug fixes for 2.2, but it also includes a fix for several security vulnerabilities, which make it a required upgrade.

Fixed Bugs

  • Atom feed validation fixes
  • XML-RPC fixes
  • Widget backward compatibility fixes
  • Widget layout fixes for IE7
  • Page and Text Widget improvements

Security Fixes

  • Remote shell injection in PHPMailer
  • Remote SQL injection in XML-RPC
  • Unescaped attribute in default theme

I haven’t been using WordPress too long, so this is going to be my first upgrade. Honestly, I’m not looking forward to it, because my install is heavily customised so I’m not entirely sure how it’s going to go.
